The Best Easy Chili for a Crowd

Are you feeding a crowd this big game weekend? We always love having a big group of friends over to watch the game. This is my super easy go to recipe to feed a bunch of people. It makes a big pot of chunky, hearty chili that feeds at about 20.

When I have a crowd to feed, this big ol' pot of chili is what I make. 

It's easy and hearty and will fill many bellies.

The Best Easy Chili for a Crowd Info

What are some good chili toppings? Our favorite toppings to add are shredded cheese, sour cream, diced fresh jalapeños, diced avocado, corn, and fresh cilantro.

What if I need chili for more than 20 people? I make some quick rice to put the chili over. And you can always throw in some more beans. There's always plenty for a few more friends!

Do I have to drain the beans for chili? You really don't! If you add the bean liquid with the beans, it will add volume to your chili but also the starch in it will help thicken the liquids. If you add the bean liquid, taste the chili before adding salt because the liquid does add salt. Also, beware of black bean liquid because it will definitely darken your chili.

The Best Easy Chili for a Crowd Ingredients: 


2 pounds beef carne picada sliced thinly
1 pound ground beef
3 stalks of celery sliced thinly
2 onions diced 
4 cloves of garlic minced
5 tablespoons diced jalapeño peppers
1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
2 32oz cans crushed tomatoes
2 32oz cans diced tomatoes
3 tablespoons oregano
2 tablespoons cumin
1/2 cup chili powder
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
4 15.5oz cans kidney beans, drained and rinsed
3 15.5oz cans black beans, drained and rinsed
3 15.5oz cans great northern beans, 
drained and rinsed
salt and pepper to taste

The Best Easy Chili for a Crowd Instructions:

In an 8 quart pot, over medium heat, cook the meats for about 3 minutes while stirring. Add in celery, onions, garlic and peppers and sauté until they are softened and the meat is browned. Drain off any fat as you desire.

Add in the crushed tomatoes and diced tomatoes, oregano, cumin, chili powder, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce and stir in well. Add in beans and carefully stir well from the bottom of the pot. Simmer for 30 minutes or longer if you have time, making sure you stir from the bottom often. Salt and pepper to taste.
