Log Home Master Bathroom Renovation | Before and Plans | One Room Challenge

Guess what time it is again? One Room Challenge time! I'm so excited to be able to participate this year after taking a couple of years off. The best thing is the One Room Challenge lasts for eight weeks instead of six now. And we're going to need all eight to finish this room!

The One Room Challenge is a fun bianual opportunity to join hundreds of other bloggers who are also designing a room. There are twenty featured designers who will post on Wednesdays and all of the guest participants post every Thursday for the next eight weeks. So be on the look out for an update from me every Thursday!

So what room are we doing this time? Our master bathroom! This is a room I have been waiting for years to renovate. We've done every other bathroom in the house (some of them twice after the flood) except for our bathroom.

I could only find one "before" picture of the bathroom and it's this one of the shower. You can see it definitely needed a renovation, with its beige tile and floral wallpaper. Not to mention shower doors that were broken.

We were about to start renovating our bathroom when our house flooded in Hurricane Florence. I guess it's a good thing we didn't put all of this work into the bathroom back then only to see it ruined.

After the flood, all we did in this bathroom was replace the drywall and tear down the dropped ceiling. It has looked like this since then, waiting for its renovation.

Here's the shower area now.

This wood ceiling and beams were hidden above the dropped ceiling! The cross bracing will come out next. I have to climb up there to work on that ceiling and having them there will give me something to work off of.

And here is the sink area. Everything is more challenging when renovating a log home because the logs are not smooth like drywall. They are not level all because of being hand hewn logs.

This is going to be a huge project, but I cannot wait to get started! Here's what we have planned:

Our Design Concept

Here's my mood board for the bathroom. These are just my overall design concepts and an idea of what I'd like our bathroom to look like.

Our Project Work List

I know this list will grow longer and more specific, but for now here are the main jobs that need to be done:

Refinish wood ceiling and beams
