I'm so happy to be part of a Spring Refresh Blog Hop organized by the very talented Jess of Honey n' Hydrangea. At the end of this post don't miss all of the other posts linked up for this event. With our recent bathroom renovation also came switching the guest room to this room, which adjoins the bathroom through a new pocket door. It was really just a bare bones room so I decided to freshen it up for Spring. Here's what I started with:
The bed was a Craigslist find a while back and I repainted it but kept the brass. I got the Laura Ashley sage green quilt set last year and I still like it so I kept it. Greens are perfect for Spring. Since I went with a navy cabinet in the bathroom I decided to use navy in this adjoining guest room. I fell in love with this pillow from Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart and it became my starting point. All of the white pillows are BH&G also, from last year.
I have been eliminating the yellowing 1980s mini blinds from each room in the house as I can. It felt so good to get those awful things down! I really wanted to make some new navy and white buffalo check curtains, but I was running out of time before guests were coming! So I was super excited to find these for cheaper than I could even make them.
My trusty old brass lamps my Mom gave me years ago also stayed. I used to have a lot of blue and white in our previous home, but since we moved most of it has been packed away. It was fun to finally have a place to bring them out again! I shopped the house and found enough accessories to give each bedside table a splash of brass too.
Some dogwood branches from the yard tucked into the willow branches added a little pop of white against the log walls. I've been surprised at how long they've stayed pretty! I'd never brought dogwood branches inside before. I would definitely recommend checking and shaking them carefully to check for bugs!

I added the guest book I made a while back because I love to look back and remember our family and friends' visits. That's a hand blown glass friendship ball from York, England that my parents brought me from a trip.
Across the room, on what was previously just an empty wall, I added an antique dressing table that is a family piece. I've had it stored for a while until I could find the right spot for it. I love that when the family members it is special to come to visit they can enjoy it.
More shopping of pieces I had in storage gave me enough to make this spot pretty.
Some bright pink azaleas from the yard added just the right pop of color over here.
So that's it for my Spring Guest Room Refresh. This room is far from done but at least it's ready and more welcoming for guests. Now please click on the links below to see the other Spring Refresh posts in the Blog Hop to see so much Spring décor inspiration.

Your room turned out so pretty!!! I especially love the curtains and pops of navy. I'm packing my suitcase, be right there!!!
Your cabin is enchanting! Any guest would be proud to stay in such a room. Isn't it fun when something as simple as a pillow can be an inspiration piece? And the little bunny in the mirror, just darling. Well done, my friend.
Hi Dara! I am so inspired by your cabin and what you're doing with it. The walls add so much character, grit and beauty to the space--but I bet they're a challenge sometimes! I love how you've embraced them and worked your style. The check curtains and gorgeous dark tones on the nightstand and accessories work so well to balance out the wood texture and the creamy whites. I'm so impressed! I enjoyed your post and can't wait to dig deeper into your blog. It has been a pleasure meeting you behind the scenes and doing this hop with you. Hope your family is all well. Talk to you soon friend!
This guest room turned out so beautiful Dara!! I'll be right over for a weekend stay! Love the green quilt with the navy and white, and the sun coming in to highlight it all! So pretty! xoxo
